COSAC
Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to reiterate the Finnish Parliament’s invitation to attend the LXII COSAC in Helsinki
on 1
–
3 December 2019.
Enclosed please find the latest version of the draft programme and agenda. We have made every
effort to adapt the agenda according to the wishes expressed at the Chairpersons’ meeting in July.
Our Prime Minister, Mr Antti Rinne, has reserved two hours for his appearance at COSAC, and
has indicated that he is prepared also to address and take questions on the Multiannual Financial
Framework.
We have invited the President-elect of the European Commission, Ms. Ursula von der Leyen, to
attend and address COSAC. Unfortunately, we will only get confirmation from the Commission
after the appointment procedure has ended. I am confident, however, that we will have the
opportunity to engage with either the President or a senior member of the Commission. Mr Michel
Barnier
has kindly agreed to attend in order that the COSAC may debate Brexit and the Union’s
future relationship with the United Kingdom. In view of the evolving political situation, I ask for
your understanding that the details of the programme may be subject to change.
I wish to draw your attention to the need to book accommodation and travel at the earliest
possible date. Please refer to the enclosed practical information and our website.
I am confident that the Helsinki COSAC will prove to be a productive and pleasant event and look
forward to welcoming you in Finland on 1 December.
