Re: Second ICM on Eurojust
Honourable Chairperson,
According to Article 85 TFEU and Regulation (EU) 2018/1727 on the European Union Agency
for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust) an annual joint evaluation of Eurojust’s activities by
the European Parliament and National Parliaments should be organised by the European
Parliament in the framework of an interparliamentary committee meeting held in Brussels, with
the participation of members of the competent committees of the European Parliament and of
the National Parliaments.
Against this background, and considering the importance of this issue, the LIBE Committee in
cooperation with the French Sénat and Assemblée nationale would like to invite Members of
National Parliaments to the interparliamentary committee meeting on “The evaluation of
Eurojust activities”. The meeting is scheduled on Tuesday, 1 February 2022, from 9.00 to 11.00.
The topics to be addressed include the impact of the COVID-19-pandemic on judicial
cooperation between the Member States, cooperation with third countries, Eurojust's mandate
and activities, and cooperation between Eurojust and the newly operational European Public
Prosecutor’s Office.
I am therefore pleased to invite up to four Members of the relevant committee(s) from each
national Parliament (two from each Chamber in the case of bi-cameral Parliaments) to attend
this meeting. Due to the measures related to the Covid-19 pandemic, exceptionally the meeting
will take place by remote participation for Members of national parliaments.
Should you be unable to attend, I would welcome any written contribution, which would be
distributed to our respective Members and other participants.
Practical and technical details concerning the connection regarding the meeting will be
forwarded in due course to your Parliament's services for relations with the European
Parliament.
