To the Chair(s) of the Committee(s) concerned
Dear Colleague,
Given the political importance of the European Commission’s “Posting of Workers”
proposal (COM(2016)128), the European Parliament’s Committee on Employment and
Social Affairs (EMPL) would like to invite Members of the National Parliaments of the
EU Member States to attend an inter-parliamentary committee meeting on the theme:
"A targeted revision of the rules on the Posting of Workers"
The focus of this meeting would be on the upcoming negotiations on this proposal in the
framework of the ordinary legislative procedure. The European Commissioner
responsible has been invited to present the proposal. The meeting will also benefit from
the presence of the author of the study “Posting of Workers Directive – current situation
and challenges”, commissioned by the European Parliament.
We are therefore very pleased to invite up to four Members of the corresponding
committee(s) of each National Parliament (two from each chamber in the case of bi-
cameral Parliaments) to attend this event on
Wednesday, 12 October 2016, from 15.00
to 18.30 in the European Parliament in Brussels.
Should you and/or your Members be unable to attend, we would welcome any written
contributions which would be made available to the participants.
Please find the draft agenda and a short background note attached. Practical details
regarding the meeting will be forwarded in due course to your Parliament's services
responsible for relations with the European Parliament.
