Dear Chair,
dear
colleague,
I
have
a
pleasure
of informing
you that the
Agriculture
Committee
of
the Croatian Parliament,
supported
by
the Ministry
of
Agriculture
of
the
Republic
of
Croatia,
will
organize
an
interparliamentary
conference
with
the aim
of
fostering
interparliamentary
cooperation
between
the
competent
working
bodies
of
national parliaments,
exchanging
views
and
discussing the proposal
for
the legislative framework
of
the Common
Agricultural
Policy
for
the
forthcoming programming
period,
presented
by
the
European Commission
at
the
beginning
of
June
2018.
Along
with
representatives
of
the
committees responsible
for
agriculture
and
rural
development
of
EU
member
states'
national
parliaments,
the
conference
will
also
bring
together
representatives
of
the
Committee
on Agriculture
and
Rural
Development
of
the
European Parliament,
the
European Commission, the
Ministry of Agriculture of
the Republic
of
Croatia
and
major
sectoral
associations.
In
my
capacity
as
the
Chairman
of
the Croatian
Parliament
Agriculture
Committee,
it
is my
pleasure
to
invite you
and
the
members
of
your
Committee
to
the Interparliamentary
Conference
"The
Role
of
Parliaments
in
Shaping
the
Future of
Food and
Farming",
to
be
held
on22
and,23
November
2018
in
the
Croatian Parliament.
The legislative
framework
proposal
will
be
presented
by
the
Commissioner
for
Agriculture
and
Rural
Development
Phil
Hogan,
followed
by
a
discussion
on: the
process
of
adopting
national
strategic
plans,
generational renewal
of
rural
areas, research
in
agriculture, food
safety
and
quality and
local
community and
rural
development.
The
second
day
of
the
Conference
will
be
reserved
for
the
presentation
of
the
outcomes
of
the
discussions
and
exchange
of
views
between parliamentarians and representatives
of
sectoral associations
and
proposing the
topics
for
further
discussions between
national
parliaments on the
future
of
the
Common
Agricultural
Policy
beyond
2020.
With
a
view
to
ensuring
a
constructive
discussion,
we
would
appreciate
if
you
provided
the
views
and opinions
of
your
Committee
on the
proposal
for
a legislative
framework
of
the
Common
Agricultural
Policy
and
the
related
proposal
for
the
Multiannual
Financial
Framework
for
the next
programming
period
by
15
October
2018.
Please
note
that
a
national
parliamentary delegation
can be represented
by
up
to four
members
(in
the
case
of
bicameral parliaments
each
chamber
with
up
to
two
members each).
The

15
October 2018
atthe
latest.
