Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs
The Chair
To the Chairpersons of the National Parliaments
Brussels, 25 July 2019
Dear Chairperson,
Dear Colleague,
The Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee (ECON) of the European Parliament will
discuss at its meeting of 24 September (14:30 - 16:30) a 2019 draft report on economic policies
in the euro area.
At this occasion, the committee will debate on the assessment of the 2019 European Semester in
particular in euro area countries, as well as on the priorities for the 2020 Annual Growth Survey,
which will
be the basis for the next year’s Semester.
Furthermore, the Council of the Union has
adopted Country-Specific Recommendations, which directly concern your country. With this in
mind, and building on the success of similar events in previous years, the ECON Committee
would like to invite National Parliaments to attend this dedicated session at its meeting of 24
September.
Due to the high importance of the subject matter, we would welcome your personal attendance
to express your committee views on the 2019 Country-Specific Recommendations that are
addressed to your country by the Council of the Union and to comment on the draft European
Parliament’s
report prepared in the ECON Committee.
The draft agenda, some questions that could frame the discussion on Country-Specific
Recommendations, other supporting documents and the online registration form will be
forwarded to the Brussels representative of your Parliament Chamber in due course by the
Directorate for relations with national Parliaments. For further information on the meeting itself,
please contact Ms. Bettina de Souza Guilherme ([email protected]) of the
ECON Committee Secretariat.
I hope that you will accept this invitation and look forward to welcoming you in the European
Parliament.
Yours sincerely,
Roberto Gualtieri
